The
Society has been in operation since 1976 and has over 300 members.
Our members put in thousands of hours of voluntary work every year,
staffing the BEC,
writing pamphlets and books, assisting with the summer activities program
for school children,
writing articles for the newsletter, collating and mailing the newsletter,
opening mail, paying accounts, weeding, planting, making walking tracks
and boardwalks,
applying for grants from local, state and federal government to fund
some of our activities,
holding street stalls, film nights and garage sales.
We
have fun too!
One of the great pleasures of joining the Society is finding yourself
among a host of like-minded people.
Unlike
Kermit, in the Society, it isn't lonely being green!
