With over 6,000 specimens from around the world, the Inverloch Shell Museum is the largest collection of shells and marine specimens in the southern hemisphere. The kids will love the touch table!

This shell
museum contains one of the world’s best displays of shells
with over 6,00O specimens on display including many local
varieties.
Many of the
specimens on display at the museum have come from private
collections. The Jack Lewis collection was the first to be
purchased for the Inverloch Community in 1980. Other
valuable
collections have been added since then.
The collection is owned by the Bass Coast Shire
under the
auspices of the South Gippsland Conservation Society. The collection is constantly
reviewed and updated by local members of the
Malacological Society of Australia.
