What a year!

It has been a very busy year for the Projects Working Group under the leadership of John Cuttriss.

Some of our achievements in 2022

  • Screw Creek Boardwalk was completed.

  • Working Bees at Screw Creek Conservation Reserve, Ayr Creek Reserve and Thompsons Reserve were well attended.

  • Participation in National Tree Day resulted in more than 2000 trees and indigenous plants being planted across 3 sites. Great effort!

  • Feathers, Fur and Fins, Frogs and Fungi: Presenters Program

  • The Great Victorian Fish Count morning workshop was attended by 29 people at the Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club rooms followed by 27 snorkeler's entering the waters of Shack Bay in the afternoon.

  • Launch of Jane Taylor's report The State of Ayr Creek's Birds

  • Nesting Boxes: Some prefabricated boxes were installed with camera monitoring as a pilot to gauge how we will begin the construction part of the program. Our Nest Box Day led to some engagement with Bass Coast Birdlife who have started a program of nest boxes for the Blue Winged Parrot. We have provided some cameras for the monitoring of these boxes.

Coming up in 2023

  • Blue Wren Project

  • Construction of new storage shed at Thompson Reserve Shed Space. Thanks to Bass Coast Shire who awarded us a $10,000 grant.

  • Working Bees: Look out for the timetable of events in 2023.

We'd like to thank everyone who volunteered on these projects during the year. What a difference we have been able to make! We look forward to an exciting new year!
