Inverloch Coastal
Resilience Project
The Inverloch Coastal Resilience Project (ICRP) has been monitoring and analysing changes at Inverloch Surf Beach and Andersons Inlet since the current coastline recession sequence commenced in 2012. The project is aimed at raising awareness of the loss of native vegetation within the coastal reserve and the threat posed to the Surf Beach and adjoining infrastructure and residences.
Following the release of a major report in 2019, a public exhibition at the Hub in 2020, a video documentary in 2020, monitoring reports in 2021, the well-attended Rally Round Our Dunes was staged in early 2022. Since then, the ICRP team has provided extensive input and comment to the Victorian Government’s Cape to Cape Resilience Project, including discussion of a range of possible interventions. With the Cape to Cape Resilience Plan expected to be finalised in 2024, the ICRP team continues to lobby for funding and urgent action to protect the remaining dune vegetation.
